Plans to build 90 homes in Glencar Irish and Glencar Scotch were lodged last July
Residents in housing estates close to the site of a planned major new housing development in Letterkenny have described the plans as “totally unacceptable”.
Plans to build 90 homes in Glencar Irish and Glencar Scotch were lodged by PJ McDermott last July. The proposed development consists of 82 dwellings and two apartment blocks containing eight apartments and includes a creche and a new vehicular entrance. Donegal County Council sought further information on the planned development in September and a decision is due by February 9.
Residents associations in Old Glencar Road, Solomon's Grove and Upper Fernhill have lodged a joint letter of objection in which they described the proposed development as "an outrageous overdevelopment" in an area where the local infrastructure is "already stretched beyond capacity".
The objection states the scale of the development is "grossly excessive for a mature residential area and should be significantly scaled back”.
Residents have also raised concerns about the impact on the skyline of Letterkenny, congestion, road safety, water pressure issues in the area and the potential impact on wildlife.
