Safety measures will finally be erected on a dangerous road - after pleas from three generations of a family.

The bend at Eatons Corner in Glenmaquin has proved treacherous for motorists over a long number of years.

After another accident recently, there were increased calls for action.

At this month's meeting of the Letterkenny-Milford Municipal District, Councillor Donal 'Mandy' Kelly asked that safety measures be installed 'as a matter of urgency'.

“There have been a number of bad accidents there,” Councillor Kelly said.

Donegal Council confirmed that a safety assessment has been carried out and it is proposed to erect chevron signage at the corning and advance warning signage on the approaches.

The Council says that these works will be carried out in the next month.

“A third generation of the family who live there have called for measures,” Councillor Kelly. “I had been looking for a crash barrier, but that is a more long-term plan that will take time.”
