Sinn Féin selected Local Election Candidate Maria Doherty for the Milford LEA

Maria Doherty was selected as the Sinn Féin Candidate for the Milford Electoral Area. The Carrigart native will be the only Sinn Féín candidate in the area.

Speaking at the convention in Mulroy Woods, Pádraig Mac Lochainn TD said that Maria was a hard-working representative for her community and that Sinn Féin had to be successful so that the damage being done to Donegal could be reversed.

“I am very proud to be selected to stand for Sinn Féin in next year's local elections. It lets me build on my community activism of the last 5 years,” Maria said, In her acceptance speech.

"Electing me to Donegal County Council will allow me and Sinn Féin to represent and help

develop the communities across the Milford Electoral Area. 

"Next June's local elections will be an opportunity for the people of Donegal to show the Government that they cannot keep forgetting Donegal by electing a strong Sinn Féin team to the Council.

"This government is responsible for the lack of childcare places, which is a massive burden placed on families due to the cost of living crisis, the despair families affected by defective concrete blocks face and the scandalous state of the health service. 

"The healthcare professionals in Letterkenny Hospital have issued an unprecedented condemnation of the state of their hospital. 

"The list is endless. It's time for it to stop, it's time for change and Sinn Féin can bring that change. 

"The first step is to elect a strong Sinn Féin team to Donegal County Council, which I would like to be part of. 

"It's time to choose Sinn Féin so that we can give our communities and families a chance to have a decent life."
