St Eunan's GAA club in Letterkenny have paid tribute to the late Charlie Harvey, who has passed away.
Charlie, originally from Lifford, was a familiar face at O'Donnell Park since first moving to Letterkenny some 56 years ago and fulfilled a variety of roles at his local club.
"It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the passing this evening of Club stalwart Charlie Harvey," St Eunan's GAA posted. "Charlie was an ever present figure at O’Donnell Park over the last 50 plus years."
"Over the years, Charlie was always the first man to help out with any jobs that needed doing around the Park. He has certainly left his stamp on St Eunan’s and around O’Donnell Park. His love for the club has been passed down through the generations with his grandchildren now playing for the club at underage level. His sons Ollie and Cathal are among our most dedicated members, always the first to volunteer when a job needs to be done or tickets sold or money raised. To Cecilia, Ollie, Cathal and Sarah and extended family we offer our sincere condolences at this time. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílís."
The peaceful death took place at his home on Thursday, of Charlie, from Conwal, Letterkenny F92 XH1X. Deeply missed by his loving wife Cecilia, daughter Sarah and husband Alan, sons Ollie and wife Ciamhe and Cathal and wife Suzanne, grandchildren James, Sadie, Grace, Anna, Faye, Charlie, Lucy and Ella, brother Jim, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and a wide circle of family, friends and neighbours. Charlie is predeceased by his brother Hugo.
Charlie's remains will be reposing at his late residence on Friday and Saturday from 12pm until after the Rosary at 9pm.
Funeral from there on Sunday, March 2, at 1.45pm going to St Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny for 2.30pm Requiem Mass which can be viewed here. Interment afterwards in Conwal Cemetery. Family time on the morning of the funeral please.
