Planners have granted permission for 21 apartments in five blocks at Windyhall Road in Letterkenny
Planning permission has been granted for a major residential development in Letterkenny after concerns were expressed about traffic congestion in the area.
Planners have granted permission to McHugh Bros Builders Limited to construct 21 apartments in five blocks at Windyhall Road.
The plans include the widening of Windyhall Road, which is narrow and suffers from traffic congestion, for the entire length of the site. The proposed development also includes fencing and railings, retaining walls, public lighting, parking, covered bike stand, bin stores and landscaping.
One objection was received that stated residents in the Clachan Mor estate believe the development would have an impact on the traffic flow in the area.
The objection said the development is in an area that has "a heavily saturated level of traffic" and includes two schools. The development would cause “more hardship” for motorists and residents, the objection said.
Donegal County Council granted planning permission with 19 conditions.
