The late Eddie Tinney
A cloud of sadness fell over Letterkenny on Sunday, when it was learned that Eddie Tinney had passed away.
Local businessman, farmer and politician, Eddie, who was in his late seventies, died in Letterkenny University Hospital from injuries sustained in a workplace accident on a farm.
“Heartbroken and devastated. RIP Eddie,” read a statement online from Tinney's Oil & Coal, Letterkenny, where Eddie spent much of his time. It was always noted that the family kept Letterkenny warm.
Predeceased by his parents Paddy and Cecelia, Eddie will be deeply missed by his loving wife Theresa and family Cecelia Tinney, Johanna Barry and husband John, Patrick and wife Joanne, and Edward and partner Rhona, grandchildren Chloe, Emma, Melissa, Shaun, Edward, Shane, Zara, Kate and Tia, sister Margaret (Port Road), brother Charlie (Ballyraine), brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and a wide circle of family, friends and neighbours.
Eddie’s remains will be reposing at his late residence at Knockbrack, Letterkenny F92 XE2D, from Monday, November 21 from 6pm until 10pm and on Tuesday, November 22 from 12pm until 10pm with Rosary both evenings at 9pm.

Funeral from there on Wednesday, November 23, at 10am travelling via Port Road and Church Lane going to St. Eunan’s Cathedral, Letterkenny for 11am Requiem Mass which can be viewed live on here in Church Services Letterkenny.
Interment afterwards to Conwal Cemetery, Letterkenny. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu of flowers, if desired, to the Irish Heart Foundation c/o any family member.
