An appeal by a shooting club against a decision to refuse planning permission for the construction of a shooting club in the Finn Valley has been thrown out.
Donegal Target Club was refused planning permission in august to build a target range at Cavan Upper Killygordon.
The club appealed the decision to an Bord Pleanála late last month but the board has thrown out the application due to an “invalid fee”.
The original application was refused planning permission by Donegal County Council after objections by a number of locals who were concerned about impact the target range would have on the rural area and on farm animals.
Planners turned down the application because they said it would proposal would seriously injure the privacy of homes and farms, would impact on local amenities including walking, pony trekking and cycling. The council also said the local road network could not cope with the extra traffic created by a shooting range in the area.
