A Gig for Gaza in Ballybofey has raised thousands for UNICEF, who provide humanitarian aid to the people of Palestine.

Between donations and ticket sales, over €5,500 was raised at the gig, which took place in the Balor Arts Centre.

The Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign’s Donegal branch joined on the night, selling locally-designed merchandise and raising €850 for Medical Aid Palestine.

The organisers, Siobhán and Daniel, would like to extend a huge thanks to the performers and anyone who showed their support, whether they came on the night, donated, or spread the word.

Also, organisers would like to say a special thanks to Conor Malone and the Balor Arts Centre, who kindly offered the venue free of charge for the evening, and to Ciaran O’Neill on sound and all the Balor staff who made the night possible.

The online donations page is still open until next Tuesday.

The night included music from local acts Final Girl, Nine Foot Lizzards, Shauna Scanlon and Jason Deery. Dublin Writer Sarah Creighton Keogh performed her original work and also shared stories of LGBTQ+ people in Palestine.
