Water supply is returning to Uisce Éireann customers in Stranorlar and Ballybofey this morning.

Uisce Éireann wishes to advise customers that repairs to a burst water main impacting supply to the twins towns have been completed, and water is returning to affected customers.

The burst on a trunk water main supplying the Lough Mourne Public Water Supply resulted in supply disruptions in Stranorlar, Ballybofey and surrounding areas overnight. Uisce Éireann crews worked throughout the night to carry out the complicated repairs and supply is returning to impacted customers this morning.

Following repairs, it typically takes two to three hours for normal supply to restore to all customers affected by an unplanned outage. However, it may take longer for normal supply to be restored to customers on higher ground or at the end of the network.

Damien O’Sullivan of Uisce Éireann thanked affected customers for their cooperation while repairs were underway.

“Uisce Éireann acknowledges the inconvenience caused by unplanned outages and thanks customers for their patience and cooperation while these works were carried out. The repairs to a burst on a trunk main were complex in nature and we regret any inconvenience caused.”
