With nine candidates are in the running for four seats, first-timer Ali Farren looks to have taken a huge leap in the Carndonagh LEA.

Farren's numbers made for a very satisfactory Saturday for the 100% Redress Party, added to the performance of Joy Beard in Buncrana

Farren, who spoke to Chris McNulty afterwards, was followed by the four sitting councillors - Martin Farren (The Labour Party), Albert Doherty (Sinn Féin), Johnny McGuinness (Fine Gael), and Martin McDermot (Fianna Fáil) - but five into four won't go.

Quota - 1,576, four seats
1 - Ali Farren, 100% Redress, with 28.2 percent, 2,223 votes
2 - Martin McDermott, Fianna Fáil, with 26 percent, 2,050, votes
3 - Albert Doherty, Sinn Fein, with 12.7 percent, 1,001 votes
4 -  Martin Farren, Labour, with 12.6 percent, 991 votes
5 - Johnny McGuinness, Fine Gael, with 9.3 percent, 736 votes
6 - Paul Barry McKinney, non-party, 4.9 percent, 383 votes
7 - Toni Devine, Lecamy, Sinn Féin, 3.3 percent, 269 votes
8 -  Donal McKinney, The Irish People, 3.1 percent, 168 votes
9 - Michael White, Green Party, 0.8 percent, 60 votes

All four sitting councillors - Martin Farren (The Labour Party), Albert Doherty (Sinn Féin), Johnny McGuinness (Fine Gael), and Martin McDermot (Fianna Fáil) - are seeking reelection in the LEA which is part of the Inishowen Municipal District.
