Man arrested after Garda patrol car goes on fire outside Castlefin Garda station

Marked Garda patrol vehicle went on fire shortly before 4.15am this morning

Confirmed:

The grim scene of the badly burnt patrol car outside Castlefin Garda station this morning

Gardai have confirmed that a man has been arrested in relation to an incident which saw a marked garda patrol car go on fire outside Castlefin garda station, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

A spokesperson told donegallive this evening: 

"An Garda Síochána are investigating an incident of criminal damage that occurred near Castlefin Garda station on the morning of Saturday 21st January 2023.

"Shortly before 4:15am, a marked Garda patrol vehicle that was parked outside the Garda station was discovered on fire.

"The fire was extinguished by local fire services. No injuries were reported.

 "A man in his 30s was arrested on the afternoon of Saturday, January 21 2023 in connection with this incident.

He is currently being detained at Letterkenny Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984. Investigations are ongoing."
