Philly Donaghey, Annaugh, Clonmany

The death has occurred at Letterkenny University Hospital of Philly Donaghey (Smokey), Annaugh, Clonmany, F93 86P6; dear husband of Annemarie, beloved father of Paul and Raymond.

Sadly missed by his brothers, sister, daughter in law, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers in law, sisters in law and wider circle of family and friends.

His remains will be leaving the Eternal Light Chapel of Rest Mountain Top, Letterkenny this evening, Wednesday, June 7, at 5pm going to his late residence.

Funeral from there on Saturday morning, June 10 at 10.30am going to St Mary’s Church, Clonmany for Requiem Mass at 11am with interment afterwards in the New Cemetery.

Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to the Clonmany Community Centre and St Colmcille Village, Cleagh, Clonmany c/o any family member. Family time please from 11pm to 11am.

Fanny Russell (née Gamble), Churchtown, Churchill

The death has occurred of Fanny Russell (née Gamble), Churchtown, Churchill, Donegal, F92 KP89. Peacefully, in Letterkenny University Hospital, surrounded by her caring family. Predeceased by parents Charles & Annie, husband George (2010) brothers Charlie, William and Jim and sister Lillie.

Deeply regretted by sons George & wife Trish (Churchtown), Austin & wife Lorraine (The Glebe, Churchill), Noel & wife Pamela (Tirargus, Churchill). Sorely missed by her sister Kathleen (Philadelphia). Always remembered by her grandchildren, extended family members, good neighbours and friends.

Fanny's remains will repose at her late residence from 5pm today, Wednesday June 7. Funeral from there on Friday June 9 going to St. Columba's Parish Church, Churchill, for service at 4pm followed by interment in Gartan Cemetery.

Muriel McGrath (née McNamee), Magherennan, Letterkenny

The peaceful death has occurred at Hillcrest House Nursing Home, Long Lane, Letterkenny on Tuesday June 6, 2023 of Muriel McGrath, née McNamee, Rowan House, Magherennan, Letterkenny F92 X8DV and formerly from Glenties.

Deeply missed by her loving son Sean (Churchill), daughters Anne (Letterkenny), Joan (Germany) and Lorna (Letterkenny), sons-in-law Allan and Joe, daughter-in-law Ann (Letterkenny), grandchildren Sinéad, Brendan, Fionnuala, Paul, Deirdre, Ciara, Thomas and Gillian, her seven great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and a wide circle of family, friends and neighbours.

Muriel is predeceased by her husband Arthur in 1999 and her son Art in 2018.

Removal from The Eternal Light Chapel of Rest, Mountain Top, Letterkenny on Wednesday 7th June 2023 at 4pm going to the family home at Rowan House, Magherennan.

Muriel’s remains will be reposing at her late home on Wednesday June 7 from 6pm until 10pm and on Thursday June 8 from 12 noon until 10pm with Rosary both nights at 9pm.

Funeral from there on Friday June 9 at 10.30am going to The Church of the Irish Martyrs, Ballyraine for 11am Requiem Mass which can be viewed on the Parish YouTube Chanel https://www.youtube.com/@churchoftheirishmartyrs4657.

Interment afterwards in Conwal Cemetery, Letterkenny. Family time on the morning of the funeral please.

John McGlashan, Glenties 

The sudden death has occurred, at his home, of John Mc Glashan, 6 The Rock, Glenties and formerly from Vale of Leven, Alexandria. Predeceased by his parents Samuel and Maree Mc Glashan.

Sadly missed by his wife Margaret, his daughters Sharon and Maree, his sister Jackie, sons-in-law Enda and Marco and grandchildren Abbey, Evelyn, Kieran, Marco, Luca and Rocco, nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family and friends.

John's remains will repose at Shovlins Funeral Home, Sandfield, Ardara, from 3pm today, Wednesday, June 7, with removal at 4.30pm going to his late residence. House private on Wednesday evening.

Wake on Thursday from 11am until 9pm. Funeral service on Friday morning at 11am in St. Connell's Church, Glenties, with burial afterwards in the local cemetery.

Anthony (Tony) Cunningham, Ardara / Trim

The death has occurred of Anthony (Tony) Cunningham of St. Joseph’s CNU, Trim, Co. Meath and originally of Ardara.

Died peacefully on June 5, 2023.

Predeceased by his wife Marie, survived by his grieving sisters and brother, Bridget, Margaret, Celine and Charles and children Anna-Marie, Anthony, Michaela, Marcus and Francesca. Also his grandchildren and great grandchild.

His family’s would like to extend their sincere thanks and gratitude to all the staff at St. Joseph's for the exceptional care he received while there. He will be missed.

Reposing at Lakelands Funeral Home, Dublin Road, Cavan from 2-4 Saturday, June 10, followed by Funeral service and Cremation.

Máire Ui Mhaolchallann (née Keane Ní Chatháin), Letterkenny / Galway

The death has occurred of Máire Ui Mhaolchallann (née Keane Ní Chatháin), 70 Ashlawn, Letterkenny, (F92 N6KT) / Galway. Suddenly after a short illness in Letterkenny University Hospital. Predeceased by parents Barbara and Paitín, brother Máirtín, sons Diarmaid and baby Cathal and former husband Séan. Sadly missed by daughters Róisín and Gráinne, sons-in-law Antoine and Mark, and grandchildren Evan, Cain and Cormac. Always remembered by extended family members neighbours and friends.

Marie's remains will repose at her late residence on Wednesday, June 7, until 10pm. Funeral from there on Thursday morning, June 8, going to The Church of the Irish Martyrs, Ballyraine, Letterkenny for Requiem Mass at 11am followed by interment in New Leck Cemetery. David Thomas Lane, Dundrum, Dublin / Portnoo

The death has occurred of David Thomas Lane, Dundrum, Dublin / Portnoo in the exceptional care of the staff at Gascoigne care home in Rathmines. Beloved husband of Louisa; much-loved father of Johanna, Tim and Andrew; and father-in-law of Mike. Formerly of Dundrum, and teacher at Newpark Comprehensive School, Blackrock. Loved and remembered by his sister, Alison, and brother-in-law, Bob, and a wide circle of family and friends, including his best canine friend, Molly.

Service of Thanksgiving and burial will take place on Thursday, June,8 at 12pm in St Patrick’s Church in Enniskerry.

William (Willie) McDermott, Meenahorna, Ballybofey

The death has occurred of William (Willie) McDermott, 5 Knocknamona Terrace, Letterkenny / Meenahorna, Ballybofey, Retired Nurse - St. Conal's Hospital, Letterkenny. Willie is predeceased by his wife Margaret, son Liam and his sister Mary.

He will be sadly missed by his sons Séamus (Jennifer), Micheal (Joanne), grandchildren Órin, Cónor, Sean, Jamie, Hannah, Alice and great-grandchildren.

Reposing at his late residence until removal on Wednesday, June 7 at 10.30am for Requiem Mass at 11am in St Eunan's Cathedral. Burial afterwards in Kilteevogue Cemetery, Glenfin. Family time 11pm till 10am, please.

Gerry Collum, Meenaniller, Derrybeg

The death has occurred of Gerry Collum, Meenaniller, Derrybeg. He passed away at his home at 5 Ailt Aoibhinn, Meenaniller, Derrybeg. He was originally from Ardsbeg, Gortahork.

He will be sadly missed by his wife Madge, daughter Marie, sons Éamonn and Gearóid, son-in-law Leonard, daughters-in-law Laura and Jenny, grandchildren Callum and Senan and extended family and friends.

Predeceased by his son James Beag and his brothers and sisters. Removal took place to the family home last evening. House private on Wednesday, please.

Funeral Mass in St Mary's Church, Derrybeg, on Thursday, June 8, at 11am, with burial afterwards in Cnoc Fola Cemetery.


Barry Gough, 8 Station Road, Ballyshannon

The death has occurred of Barry Gough, 8 Station Road, Ballyshannon. He passed away peacefully at Sligo University Hospital. Beloved husband of Laura, much loved father of Seamus (Honang Ngoc Thao My) Siobhan, and brother Baden.

Predeceased by his younger brother Boyd, relatives and friends.

Private family cremation will take place at Lakeland's Crematorium Cavan at a later date. Family home private at all times. No flowers, by request.


Terry Tinney, London and Castlefinn

The death has occurred of Terry Tinney, London and Castlefinn. He passed away peacefully early on Saturday morning, May 27 in London, England.

Terry will be sorely and deeply missed by his wife Jean, children; Dean, Jason and Kirsty, grandchildren; Orla, Erin, Trafford and Winter, brothers; Anthony and Laurence, sister-in-law; Doreen and Sylvia, son and daughter-in-law; Daniel and Rachel and many nieces, nephews and friends.

His funeral Mass will take place on Friday, June 23 at 10am, in St Aidan’s Catholic Church in East Acton, London and followed by burial at Mortlake Cemetery.
