UPDATE: Multiple hospitalisations from N56 "serious injury traffic collision"

The two-car collision took place between Termon and Kilmacrennan

N56 closed near Kilmacrennan due to "serious injury traffic collision"

A number of people have been taken to hospital following a two-car collision on the N56 between Termon and Kilmacrennan.

The collision took place at approximately 3pm on Saturday.

A garda spokesperson confirmed that drivers of both vehicles, and all passengers, have been removed to hospital, where they remain in a serious condition.

All of those hospitalised are female, aged in their teens, 20s, 40s and 60s. 

The road is currently closed in order for Forensic Collision Investigators to carry out an examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place.
