As bathing season draws to a close, Donegal County Council is winding down its lifeguard presence on Donegal's beaches.
RNLI Bundoran Lifeboat Station has reminded people that the beach lifeguards on the town's main beaches are on duty until Sunday, September 3. The will be back on duty for the weekend of September 9 and 10 and will then be finished for the season.
Killian O'Kelly of RNLI Bundoran Lifeboat Station is appealing to people to be aware of the dangers of sea swimming, particularly in regard to a local rip current.
He said: "On the Main Beach please be extra careful of the consistent rip current on the Great Northern side of the beach.
"Consider using the Thrupeeny Pool or the West End Nun's Pool if no lifeguards are on duty."
The RNLI website has lots of useful information to help swimmers and other water users to stay safe.
