The new party has said that 100% redress for all affected property owners will be a core aim of its policies
The 100% Redress Party is to be approved to become a registered political party eligible to stand candidates in Ireland’s Dáil and local elections.
The Registrar of Political Parties has given notice of his intention to approve an application by the 100% Redress Party.
The decision made by the chief executive of An Coimisiún Toghcháin, the Electoral Commission, Art O’Leary, as Ireland’s Registrar of Political Parties, will become effective after a 21-day appeal period, or the outcome of any such appeal.
Once approved, the new party will be able to contest Dáil, European or local elections.
The new party, which has been formed by campaigners for those affected by defective blocks in Donegal, has signalled its intention to contest seats in Donegal in next year’s local elections amid ongoing frustration at the Government’s defective book remediation scheme.
The campaigners, who say they have hundreds of members signed up, lodged an application to the Electoral Commission to form a party in July.
The party has said that 100% redress for all affected property owners will be a core aim of its policies but that it will not necessarily be a single issue one.
