Drumkeen National School is set to get a new floodlit sports facility.
Donegal County Council has granted conditional permission for the all-weather development.
Principal Frank McGlynn, on behalf of the Board of Management at Scoil Phadraig NS sought permission for the construction of the all-weather sports field.
The development will include associated floodlighting, fencing and the construction of a pedestrian access ramp and all ancillary site development works.
The local authority has given the go-ahead, subject to four conditions, including that all lights are hooded and aligned to prevent direct spillage onto the public road and residential properties.
All sound trees shrubs and hedgerow will be retained and any tree or shrub species subsequently dying shall be replaced.
Former Donegal footballer McGlynn, a key member of Donegal’s All-Ireland winning squad in 2012, was appointed principal in 2019.
