Charities to benefit again from Whoriskey’s Christmas lights

The Whoriskey’s Christmas lights display in Kerrykeel, which has raised over €100,000 for charity in the last 18 years, will illuminate the skies again next month.

This year, the display at the home of Michael and Mary Whoriskey will be in aid of St. Bernadette’s Special School in Letterkenny and Critical, Emergency Medical Response.

Last year, a cool €10,565 was raised for the Donegal Down Syndrome Association.

The kind-hearted couple turn their home in Gortcally into a real winter wonderland with hundreds of lights for families to enjoy.

In 2022, the total funds raised by the display passed the €100,000 mark. The previous year, over €18,000 was handed over to BUMBLEance.

The Whoriskeys have confirmed that the lights will be officially switched on for the 2023 season on Saturday December 2.

St. Bernadette’s Special School caters for children aged from 4-18 years of age with mild to moderate learning disabilities. They provide a highly individualised and specialised programme of education for their students, offering a range of different learning opportunities to help children learn, grow and be themselves.

Critical is Ireland's biggest volunteer doctor and emergency medical responder charity. Critical was initially established in 2009 as Irish Community Rapid Response and in 2019 it successfully launched Ireland’s first and only charity Air Ambulance.
