There are plans to demolish ‘The Forge’ in Letterkenny town to make way for a new bistro.
Planning permission has been sought from Donegal County Council by Ballyshannon Retail Limited.
The Forge is located on Slate Row and adjoins the Kernan’s Spar shop.
The company has sought permission to demolish The Forge, a single storey building, and a part of the rear building of the existing shop.
An application has been made for the erection of a new two-and-a-half storey building in place of the tossed structures.
The proposed development would see a new bistro/coffee shop and a deli shop area. The new building would inside an office, toilet facility, food storage area, cold room, hallway and also a bin storage, lobby and access stairs to the ground floor.
The existing shop and proposed new bistro/coffee shop would be connected with double doors.
On the first floor, the company plans to erect two one-bedroom apartments and a further two one-bedroom apartments on the second floor.
Donegal County Council say that a decision on the application will be made by February 21, 2024.
