The flu virus is easily spread
The number of people suffering from the flu is highest in Donegal, Waterford, Cork and Galway.
Donegal is among the counties worst affected by Covid last week, according to a report in the Irish Independent.
The number of flu cases is expected to increase as people mix over the Christmas and New Year period.
The number of people suffering from winter illness is expected to rise and put increasing pressure on hospitals.
However, figures show that only five people are currently waiting on a bed in Letterkenny University Hospital today.
