Men's Shed in Manorcunningham hit by festive oil thieves

The newly-established Men’s Shed in Manorcunningham was hit by thieves over the festive week.

A quantity of oil was stolen from a tank at the Men’s Shed, which was officially opened in November.

Last summer, a group spearheaded by Declan Glackin, John Crawford, Paul Doherty and Joe Mulhern got together and began putting the pieces together.

A building, which was previously utilised by the Irish Wheelchair Association, was sourced and soon the Men’s Shed was up and running.

A series of activities, including darts, 25 and other recreational interests take place in the building.

Some of the organisers have met An Garda Siochana about the theft and are also exploring additional security for the facility.

The group says it is ‘disappointed’ by the incident, but has vowed to be undeterred as it heads into 2024.
