Donegal's Niall Blaney is one of three Fianna Fáil candidates in the European Midlands North West Parliamentary Constituency.
The European Parliament candidate says endorsements have come from prominent serving and former Fianna Fáil figures as well as scores of Councillors.
The Donegal Senator handed in his nomination papers at the Courthouse in Galway during the week and told supporters: “I’m in it to win it!”
“We will leave no stone unturned in this long campaign. Posters are going up and a fleet of branded vans is on the roads to underline my determination to win a seat for Fianna Fáil.
“Canvassers will be at every major event and we will be in villages and towns to emphasise the fact that this is an important election for our region. Every major decision across every aspect of our lives is made by the EU and it’s vitally important we are there at the heart of that decision-making to argue with conviction on behalf of farmers and consumers.
“It’s also essential to make the case for a bigger slice of EU regional aid to tackle our remoteness on the edge of Europe. We have to address disadvantage and level up in economic terms with the east and south of our great nation.”
