Mass will be offered in Glenties on Friday evening for Cian Doherty, who was seriously injured in a road traffic collision on Wednesday morning.

Parish priest Fr Gerard Cunningham will offer the 7.30pm Mass at St Connell's Church in Glenties for the recovery and healing of Cian.

The young Glenties man is in the Mater Hospital in Dublin, where he is being treated.

Shortly before 6am on Wednesday, the vehicle he was driving while on his way to work was involved in a single-vehicle road traffic collision on the R261 road between Maas and Portnoo.

Having initially been taken to Letterkenny University Hospital, he was transferred to the Mater.

A former Donegal underage player, Cian has been a member of the Naomh Conaill senior team.

The club said: “All Cian's teammates and everyone at Naomh Conaill wish Cian a full recovery. All our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Cian and we hope to see you back among us as soon as possible.”
