Creeslough explosion: The 10 victims remembered, two years on

Two years ago today, on October 7, 2022, 10 people lost their lives in an explosion at the Applegreen complex in Creeslough

Catherine O’Donnell (39) and James Monaghan (13)

Catherine O’Donnell was from Creeslough, but lived in Kilmacrennan.
She had collected her son, James Monaghan from the school bus close to the complex. The two were in the queue at the post office.

In August 2017, Catherine and her partner, Charlie Flood, suffered tragedy with the death of their baby daughter, Paige.

James Monaghan was in the post office with his mother when they were tragically killed in the explosion. Like Leona Harper, James was a student at Mulroy College in Milford.
