Donegal is Ireland's second luckiest county when it comes to lotto wins

Donegal has been ranked as Ireland’s second luckiest county when it comes to Lotto wins.

Around 1.2 million people across Ireland play the lotto each week, with 40% of Irish adults participating regularly. As millions chase the dream of striking it rich, new data from Betway reveals which counties in Ireland boast the highest number of lucky winners.

Taking into account various locations across Ireland, the research delves into which areas are home to the most jackpot and scratch card winners, how much money people have won, as well as wins per 100,000 people.

Topping the list with the most wins per 100,000 people in Ireland is Louth, with an impressive 64 overall wins per 100,000 residents. The area has secured the jackpot 76 times and boasts 14 high-tier scratch card wins (10 per 100,000 people), totaling €1,305,000 in prizes.

Following closely behind is Donegal, with 60 overall wins per 100,000 people. This includes 10 high-tier scratch card victories, bringing in €350,000, and 90 jackpot wins - securing Donegal the title for the second-highest overall wins.

Carlow ranks third with 58 overall wins per 100,000 people. The county has seen 14 high-tier scratch card wins (23 per 100,000 people), amassing €1,025,000 in prizes, and 22 jackpot wins (36 per 100,000 people).

Ireland’s capital Dublin leads with the highest number of scratch card wins overall, currently standing at 107 wins, and tops the charts with 572 jackpot wins (39 per 100,000 people).

Tipperary follows with 15 scratch card wins (9 per 100,000 people), while Louth, which ranks first overall, claims the third-highest number of jackpot wins across Ireland.
