The long awaited appointment of a Community Development Officer in the Municipal District (MD) of Donegal has been announced.
Caroline Britton who currently worked in the Housing section is set to take up the role.
Community Development Divisional Officer for Donegal County Council Paddy Doherty shared the news at the October meeting of the MD.
He said there would be a transitional period from her current role as she takes up her new position.
Cathaoirleach of Donegal County Council, Cllr Niamh Kennedy (Ind) has long been calling for the role to be filled, saying the communities groups were in serious need of support.
“I welcome Caroline to the role,” she said. “It has been long sought after, and to have a high calibre lady like yourself is brilliant.
“A lot of projects are in limbo because that space was empty for some time.”
Cllr Micheál Naughton agreed, saying: “Welcome Caroline to the role. We are very lucky to get someone of Caroline’s status and someone who knows the area so well.”
This was echoed by other councillors of the MD who expressed their congratulations and good wishes.
Area Manager for Housing and Corporate Services Pauric Sheerin added his congratulations, saying: “Caroline is a big asset in housing. I wish her well.”
