Renowned for its fantastic annual Christmas lights display, Donegal Town is a hive of activity as preparations for the big switch-one continue.

This year’s switch-on of Donegal Town’s Christmas lights will take place on Wednesday, December 4 at 7pm on the Diamond.

Special guest and switching on the lights will be Little Blue Hero, eight-year-old Jason Brady and Santa Claus. Santa and his merry friends will be accompanied by helpers from the Soilse Light Team.

Mary McGettigan from Donegal Town Community Chamber said: “Get wrapped up well, come along and join us as the Community prepares for the most magical time of the year with a special appearance by The Donegal Abbey Singers with some festive melodies.

“Of course, Santa would love to see all the boys and girls of the area coming out to give him a great big Donegal welcome as he arrives on the Diamond!

“I don’t think he will be checking who is naughty or nice!”

The Directors of Donegal Town Community Chamber CLG would like to take this opportunity to thank Contractors Ferm Eng Ltd, James, and all their hardworking team for the erection of this year’s Christmas Lights Display, as well as the elected Members, Roads Engineer Mark Sweeney and The Once off Christmas Support Allocation Donegal County Council.

“We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the Local Businesses for their very generous support for this year’s Christmas Lights Display,” said Mary. “And finally, the Christmas Lights Committee and volunteers who give up their time to make this an evening to remember for families.

“We would like to wish you all a very Happy Christmas and more important than ever keep our promise to celebrate Christmas, shop local, spend and stay in Donegal Town."
