A GoFundMe has been set up to aid the family of Kacper Dudek, who killed by a falling tree last Friday morning.
Mr Dudek, a 20-year-old who lived in Lifford, was making his way home from working in Zeus when tragedy struck on the N14 at Feddyglass, Raphoe at around 5.30am.
Organiser Monika Pochylska said that Mr Dudek was “a bright and loving young man whose life was tragically cut short during the recent storm”
She said: “In this unimaginable time, we are coming together to support Kacper's family with funeral expenses and other unexpected costs as they navigate this heartbreaking loss. Any amount, no matter how small, will help ease the financial burden and allow them to focus on honouring Kacper's memory.”
Ms Pochylska said the gesture would help show the bereaved family “that they are not alone”.
Just moments before the tragic incident, Mr Dudek spoke to his father, Artur, on the phone having narrowly avoided another fallen tree.
His Requiem Mass will take place at 10.30am on Thursday at St Patrick’s Church, Murlog with cremation afterwards in Lakelands Crematorium.
