Danny hailed from Ardara and came to Bundoran over 80 years ago to work for his uncle in Conlan’s shop in the west end of Bundoran.
He played a very great role in the community as a life long member of St Vincent De Paul Society and of course as the local grocer and undertaker he was known and respected by all.
Danny never forgot his roots in Ardara and kept in contact with his relatives, travelling while he could to visit with tins of biscuits and some liquid refreshments while at the same time he became a true Bundoran man,
An avid reader of the Donegal Democrat and Irish Independent, Danny continues to read the newspapers everyday from cover to cover in the community hospital in Ballyshannon where he now resides and is looked after exceptionally well by the wonderful staff.
Danny was and is a most charitable man, he always looked out for people who were in need. He is much loved by all who know him and is a most dignified and honorable member of our community.
A lifelong member of Fine Gael, Danny was presented with a certificate and plaque in recognition for his service to the party by Frank Feighan TD.
Danny had a life rich with experiences from butcher to grocer to funeral director and most importantly a family man. He is married to Una and they have three children Patricia, Donal and Conor. His three grand-daughters are adored by Danny and he looks forward to their frequent visits to keep him up to date on all that is happening in Bundoran and surrounding areas.
The family would like to thank all who came to visit him on the occasion of his 100th birthday, all who sent cards, messages and good wishes and a special thank you to all the dedicated staff of Ballyshannon Community Hospital who take such great care of him.
