Rev David Skuce becomes Canon of St Eunan's Cathedral, Raphoe

The Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, Rt. Rev. Andrew Forster, has appointed Rev David Skuce, the Rector of the Dunfanaghy Group of Parishes, as a Canon of St Eunan's Cathedral, Raphoe

Rev Canon David Skuce has been appointed as a Canon of St Eunan's Cathedral, Raphoe by the Bishop of Derry and Raphoe, Rt. Rev. Andrew Forster.

Rev Canon Skuce takes up the new appointment immediately.

A date has not been set for his Service of Installation.

A native of Derrygonnelly, County Fermanagh, he was appointed as the Rector of the Dunfanaghy Group of Parishes in 2019. The group takes in the parishes of Dunfanaghy, Raymunterdoney and Tullaghobegley, 

Before his arrival in Dunfanaghy, he had served as a Canon of Clogher Cathedral, in his home diocese. 

He had previous connections with Derry and Raphoe having also served in the Parish of Urney (in Tyrone) and in the Drumholm Group of Parishes in south Donegal.

Last summer, Rev Canon Skuce led a service of thanksgiving in Holy Trinity Parish Church in Dunfanaghy to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the church’s consecration.

In October 2022, he helped to comfort and support the local community after a horrific explosion at a service station in Creeslough claimed the lives of 10 people, including three children.

At the first anniversary of the explosion, Church of Ireland Minister Skuce rang a bell ten times in memory of each life lost.
