File sent to DPP as man arrested in relation to Creeslough tragedy is released

The man, aged in his 60s, who was arrested on Friday as part of the investigation into the fatal explosion at a building complex in Creeslough, has been released without charge

The 2023 Donegal Person of the Year will be announced in Creeslough next month

The Creeslough explosion took place at a commercial and residential complex in the village on October 7, 2022

A man, aged in his 60s, who was arrested on Friday as part of the investigation into the fatal explosion at a building complex in Creeslough, has been released without charge.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. The investigation is ongoing, co-ordinated from Milford Garda Station where an Incident Room was established under the direction of a Garda Senior Investigating Officer.

The investigation continues to be led by local Gardaí in the Donegal Division supported by the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation and other agencies including the Health & Safety Authority and the Commission for the Regulation of Utilities.

Five-year-old Shauna Flanagan-Garwe and her father, Robert Garwe (50) lost their lives, as did Catherine O’Donnell (39) and her 13-year-old son, James Monaghan. Leona Harper, aged 14, and Jessica Gallagher (24) were killed along with shop assistant Martina Martin (49). James O’Flaherty (48), Martin McGill (49) and Hugh Kelly (59) were the other victims of the explosion at a commercial and residential complex in the village on October 7, 2022.
