The late Bridget Ewing (née Scanlon)
The late Bridget Ewing (née Scanlon) was praised as being a good wife, mother and worker, as her Funeral took place at St Patrick’s Church, Killygordon.
Bridget, well known for being a long-time manager at the Kee’s Hotel in Stranorlar, passed away on May 25. Her Funeral was held on May 28.
She lived in Curragh, Killygordon, and worked for more than 40 years in one of Donegal’s most popular hotels. She retired from the Kee’s Hotel in the early 2000s, having started her career there at just 14 years of age, beginning as a kitchen assistant before progressively climbing the career ladder to become the hotel’s manager.
Parish Priest, Fr. Patrick Arkinson, praised Bridget’s husband, Bertiem for being “inspirational in the care, love and kindness that he has bestowed on Bridget.”
Fr Arkinson then commented that Bridget “was a very good wife, and a very good mother. Bridget was a very good person.
“Bridget was always a very good worker and will always be synonymous with her association with the Kee’s Hotel. For many years, Bridget acted out the role of manageress there and in a sense, she was the public face of that establishment.
“She was well-footed for that role in that she was very capable and was a fine-looking lady. She was very eloquent, but above all else, Bridget was a real lady.
“Throughout those years, Bridget undoubtedly made many enduring friendships, not just with staff, but also to with patrons who passed through the doors.”
