Ryan McHugh and his wife Bridget have welcomed baby Senán to the world.

The decorated Donegal footballer took to social media to post an update and thank the staff at Letterkenny University Hospital.

“I would just like to thank Letterkenny Hospital for the wonderful care they took of Bridget and Senán over the past week,” Ryan posted. “Thankfully, everyone is doing good and back home.”

Kilcar native Ryan and Bridget, from nearby Ardara, got engaged in New York on holiday in the summer of 2022 and were married at the Church of the Holy Family, Ardara, with Fr Aidan Cannon performing the official duties in 2023. Last year, they opened McBrew Coffee at the Diamond in Donegal Town.

Ryan is a footballer for Kilcar and Donegal and will be playing tomorrow at Croke Park as Jim McGuinness’ team take on Monaghan for a place in the All-Ireland semi-final. Ryan, son of Martin and Patrice, is from a famous footballing family with his father and uncle James All-Ireland winners with Donegal in 1992 and his brother Mark also winning a Celtic Cross in 2012.
