18:35 Buncrana-based councillor Jack Murray has posted: "ESB crews are assembled to go shortly after 6pm, if safe to do so.
Massive credit to them all. It's a difficult, and often dangerous job, to get power back to us all. So go raibh mile maith agaibh in advance to you all!

"Given the widespread outages, it'll undoubtedly take a while to get everyone back. Be mindful though, that they've no way of knowing of where the wires are down unless they're notified. "So call 1800 372 999 if you're aware of a wire which is causing a danger.

16:53  An Garda Siochana Donegal have posted: "Please stay indoors and stay safe while the red warning is in force. Many roads are now blocked by fallen trees and other types of debris. Gardaí may be contacted in Letterkenny on 074-9167100, in Milford on 074-9153060, in Buncrana on 074-9320540 and in Ballyshannon on 071-9858530. Always call 999 or 112 in the event of an emergency."
