To support public safety, high visibility vests are now available at the Donegal County Council Public Service Centres
An Garda Siochana have reiterated their call for pedestrians to wear luminous or white clothing when out and about in winter.
Garda Gráinne Doherty made the plea this week, stressing that free high-visibility vests are available throughout the county.
She said: “We regularly highlight the importance of wearing hi-vis clothing and we once again appeal to pedestrians and cyclists to ensure that they can be seen clearly by drivers when out on the roads. Donegal County Council and the Donegal Road Safety Working Group are also encouraging everyone to stay visible on the darker winter days.
“To support public safety, high visibility vests are now available at the Donegal County Council Public Service Centres in Dungloe, Donegal Town, Milford, Letterkenny and Carndonagh and at County House in Lifford for free, while supplies last. It is vitally important to be safe and be seen. We also urge drivers to always remain alert and to be on the lookout for vulnerable road users.”
