Juvenile boy pronounced dead having entered the River Finn at Stranorlar

A juvenile boy has died after entering the River Finn in the Twin Towns on Thursday evening.

Gardaí and emergency services responded after receiving reports of a person entering the river at Drumboe Woods, Stranorlar, shortly before 5:40pm on Thursday, December 18.

"A male juvenile was taken from the water and brought by ambulance to Letterkenny University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead," An Garda Siochana said. "A post-mortem examination will be arranged and the file will be prepared for the Coroner. The search operation on Thursday evening involved the Coast Guard Rescue 118 helicopter and An Garda Síochána."
