Uisce Éireann advises of extended nighttime restrictions in Pettigo

Following today’s repair works at Pettigo Water Treatment Plant overnight restrictions are necessary to allow reservoir levels replenish.

A mechanical issue with water pumps in the supply area resulted in a fall in reservoir levels in recent days. Crews carried out repair works today but unfortunately encountered difficulties which means that reservoir levels have yet to return to normal levels.

In the meantime, further water supply restrictions are required tonight to ensure a fully daytime supply for customers in the area. The restrictions will be in place from 10.30pm tonight (Tuesday) to 7am tomorrow (Wednesday) morning.

Adrian Gillespie of Uisce Éireann explained the team encountered issues when repairing pumps at Pettigo Water Treatment Plant and further repairs are necessary.

He thanked impacted customers for their patience while these essential nighttime restrictions are in place and appealed to them to be mindful of their water use.

“We acknowledge the inconvenience caused by these nighttime restrictions, but we want to assure affected customers that this measure is absolutely essential in order to preserve a full daytime supply for homes and businesses. We will be carrying out further repair works tomorrow (Wednesday) and we will endeavour to avoid any further nighttime restrictions. We will keep customers informed of any further necessary restrictions as soon as possible,” said Adrian.
