A new exhibition set to open later this month will showcase the work of noted Donegal photographer Declan Doherty.
The Letterkenny man, an award winning snapper, spent over 40 years working in the local media.
Now, over 400 of his images, presented both digitally and in print, will go on display with the ‘Declan Doherty’s Donegal’ exhibition to open at the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny on January 31.
The exhibition spans a time from 1980 to 2023 and many feature the people and everyday events that define the county’s character and community.
Also featured are selections from two significant RCC art commissions: Building the RCC (20th anniversary series) and Imaging Donegal - N56, a major public art project.
Doherty received the Press Photographers of Ireland (PPAI) Prize for ‘Best Feature’ in 2007.

His photographs are widely published in local and national press, including on the front page of The Irish Times on multiple occasions.
Curated by former RCC Director Shaun Hannigan, this exhibition positions Doherty as one of the most important visual chroniclers of Donegal life over the past four decades.
