St Eunan's Cathedral in Letterkenny has expressed its gratitude to all who worked so generously and tirelessly in preparing for the Installation Mass of the new Bishop, Bishop Niall Coll.
The St Johnston native on Sunday became the 44th Bishop of Raphoe since the first, Gilbert O’Caran, was appointed in the 1100s.

They posted: "We gratefully acknowledge the dedication of our sacristans — Tina Carr, Veronica Molloy, Hugh and Elizabeth McCauley — along with our Parish Secretary, Mary Ellen Harley; Fr. Michael McKeever and Marie McGill at the Bishop’s Office; the Cathedral Cleaning Team; the Knights of Columbanus and the volunteers who assisted them on the day; and the Altar Society for the beautiful floral displays for both the Confirmation and the Installation.
"Our thanks also extend to the Pastoral Centre caretakers for their work around the grounds; to those who prepared refreshments in Loreto Secondary School, where bishops and priests vested and where the media were facilitated; to John Harley for providing additional exterior lighting; and to An Garda Síochána for their assistance.
"We are grateful to Loreto Secondary School for the use of its premises; to the Civil Defence and the County Seat for the use of clothes rails; to Seamus O’Donnell and Paschal Blake for making umbrellas available; and to Scoil Cholmcille, St. Eunan’s College, Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál and the ETB for the use of their parking facilities.
"A special word of thanks to our team of altar servers — made up of students of St. Eunan’s College, Bishop Coll’s alma mater, together with our own faithful and dedicated servers.
"Finally, we express our deep gratitude to all who came from choirs across the diocese to sing together under the direction of Fr. Michael Carney, Gabrielle Fitzsimons and Una Marie O’Donnell. Míle buíochas do gach aon duine agaibh."
