The Trail Running Ireland Event of the Year accolade is one of the highest honours in the Irish trail and mountain running calendar, celebrating excellence in organisation, safety, athlete experience and contribution to the sport. The Seven Sisters Skyline stood out among a strong field of events nationwide.

The event is proudly supported by Fáilte Ireland, highlighting its growing importance as a flagship outdoor and adventure tourism event for Donegal. Reacting to the announcement, event organiser Eunan Quinn of Excel Sports said: “This award is a huge honour for everyone involved in the Seven Sisters Skyline. It’s a true team effort – from our volunteers and mountain safety teams to the local community and landowners who support us year after year. We’re incredibly proud to showcase Dunlewey and Donegal on a national stage, and support from Fáilte Ireland has been vital in helping us grow the event while staying true to its roots.”

A spokesperson for Fáilte Ireland added: “The success of the Seven Sisters Skyline demonstrates the strength of Donegal’s outdoor and adventure offering.
