A Letterkenny resident who was tragically killed in a crash in Tyrone last month will be laid to rest on Friday.

Brighton Mafuta was killed in a crash in the area of Garvaghy, between Omagh and Ballygawley.

Brighton is predeceased by father Godfrey, mother Ellinah, brothers Solomon and Admore and sister Chipo; survived by wife Sindisiwe, sons Elroy, Delroy, Theo and daughter Miah, brothers Shepherd and Arnold and sister Rhoda. He is deeply regretted by his work colleagues, neighbours and many friends.

Brighton's remains will repose at his late residence - 7a Glen Rua, Killylastin Heights,  Letterkenny, F92 VKW5 - today, Thursday, March 12. Funeral service there on Friday morning, followed by interment in New Leck Cemetery.

Brighton is a former player of Donegal Town FC and the club paid tribute to a man who played in their title-winning team of 2013.

“He showed great dedication, travelling afar to play despite not living nearby anymore,” Donegal Town FC said.

“He had an infectious personality and got on fantastically with everyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. A skilful footballer and a fantastic teammate, Brighton will be sorely missed by everyone at DTFC.”

Management and staff at Snugborough in Letterkenny, where he worked, said Mr Mafuta was “an incredible, funny, loyal, hardworking chef and friend.”

“An unforgettable colleague to everyone who worked with him,” Snugborough said last month. “James and Jacqui and all of his Snugborough family offer our condolences to all of his family and friends at this sad time.”
