A couple from Letterkenny who admitted being disorderly in Derry's bus depot have been given suspended sentences at the local Magistrate's Court today.
Andrew O'Neill (30) and Sinead Nolan (28) from Meadowbank in Letterkenny admitted assault and disorderly behaviour charges that occurred on March 23.
The court heard that police were called to a report of an ongoing assault at the bus depot at 4.15pm.
They saw the male defendant 'acting aggressively' towards staff.
Security staff told police that due to intoxication Ms Nolan had been refused entry onto a bus.
Both became aggressive and Mr O'Neill pushed the security man and the female slapped him in the face.
The incident was captured by CCTV.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott, for Mr O'Neill, said his client had been allowed onto the bus but Ms Nolan had not been and he went to defend her.
Mc MacDermott described it as “disgraceful behaviour” and said the pair had been trying to go home.
Seamus Quigley, for Ms. Nolan, said the pair had been in Derry for a few drinks and they were going home when the incident occurred.
Both defendants were given three month sentences, suspended for two years.
