Rhys Irwin on his way to the podium at Snetterton
Rhys Irwin earned two podium spots at round 3 of the British Superbikes Championships.
At Snetterton, the Kilmacrennan rider secured a second-place finish in both races.
Amid a heat wave, conditions were far from ideal with very hot track temperatures.
Qualifying on Friday saw lap times below the existing lap record from the all top contenders with Irwin putting in the perfect lap to take pole position ahead of Championship leader Luke Stapleford and five-time champion Jack Kennedy.
Race one saw temperatures soar, but Irwin battled hard to take the chequered flag just behind Kennedy for second place.
In race two, the Donegal man took an early lead holding this position for much of the race and again scored an incredible second podium of the weekend in third place.
This moves Irwin up to second place overall in the British Supersport Championship.
"This is a hugely competitive Championship,” Irwin said.
“I am racing against some of the fastest racers so I need to really make no mistakes on track. I have to say a special thank you to the team this weekend.

“We put in a late Friday night struggling with bike set up in the heat and they gave me the best possible bike they could. Also I have to thank all my sponsors that make this happen for me"
Irwin now heads to Scotland for Round four in two weeks’ time which can be watched live on TNT Sports.
