Shane Byrne and Jon Armstrong celebrate their big win in Croatia

Bruckless navigator Shane Byrne was toasting further European Championships success in Croatia this weekend.

Byrne partnered Fermanagh’s Jon Armstrong to take victory at Rally Croatia in the M-Sport Ford Fiesta Rally2, just a month after winning Rali Ceredigion in Wales.

The two successive victories for Byrne and Armstrong mean they finish second overall in the European Rally Championship for the season.

The M-Sport pair were 45.7 seconds ahead of ex-WRC driver Mads Ostberg - in a Citroen C3 - by the end of a dominant weekend.

Armstrong and Byrne were fasted on five of Saturday’s six stages and led by 27 seconds overnight.

Osteberg, who had Irish co-pilot Lorcan Moore on the notes, finished second in Croatia with Mico Marczyk third in a Skoda Fabia RS.
