Clonmany driver Kyle McBride
Kyle McBride has made the final three-man shortlist for the Billy Coleman ‘Young Driver of the Year’ award.
The Clonmany native goes up against Cian Caldwell (Kells) and Casey Jay Coleman (Clonmel) after that trio emerged from an interview-based selection process.
McBride, 22, drove a Peugeot 208 Rally4 to victory in both the Junior British Rally Championship and the highly regarded Stellantis Motorsport IRE & UK series.
Caldwell, 21, also competing in a Peugeot 208 Rally4, secured Class 2 honours across three different championships: the Triton Showers National Championship, the Sligo Pallets National Forestry Championship, and the Motorsport Ireland Junior Rally series.
Meanwhile, 22-year-old Coleman, behind the wheel of a Ford Fiesta Rally3, finished second overall in the M-Sport Fiesta Rally3 Trophy, which ran alongside the European Rally Championship, earning two podium results.
The overall winner will be announced at the Champions of Irish Motorsport Awards next Wednesday at the Crowne Plaza in Dublin.
