National: Christmas Bonus set to be paid next week to nearly 1.3 million people

The lump sum payment will be paid automatically to those receiving a long-term social welfare payment

The Social Welfare Christmas Bonus is set to be paid next week.

The double payment will be paid to approximately 1.3 million people on the week commencing Monday, December 4.

The lump sum payment will be paid automatically to those receiving a long-term social welfare payment.

Those that are on more than one social welfare payment will receive a double payment for each payment they are on.

The Christmas Bonus is one part of the Cost of Living measures announced in Budget 2024, along with eight other lump sum payments that are being paid between November 2023 and January 2024 including energy credits to help with rising costs of gas and electricity and an increase of €12 per week on all social welfare payments from January.
