Gardaí find €1.6m cannabis haul at Dublin business in second drugs bust in 24 hours

A man aged in his 40s has been arrested after the discovery of €1.6 million of cannabis. 

According to An Garda Síochána, officers attached to the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau intercepted a vehicle shortly after 6.30pm yesterday (Thursday July 4) in Blanchardstown, Dublin. 

A separate search operation was conducted under warrant of a business premises in the Blanchardstown area. 

During the course of the searches of the vehicle and premises in Blanchardstown, 80kg of cannabis herb was seized, the estimated street value of which is €1.6m. 

All drugs are subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland (FSI). 

The 42 year old man arrested in relation to drug trafficking is currently detained, pursuant to the provisions of Section 2 of Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at a Garda Station in Dublin. 

Investigations are ongoing. 

It's the second big cannabis bust as part of Operation Tara yesterday, as €120,000 worth of cannabis was seized at a residential property in the Balbriggan area. 

Two men aged in their late 20s and early 30s were charged and are scheduled to appear before Balbriggan District Court later this month.
