Man arrested after threatening woman with hammer during aggravated burglary

Gardaí have arrested a man in connection with an aggravated burglary that occurred at a home in Ballyfermot, Dublin in the early hours of Monday, 25 November.

A woman, aged in her 60s, was assaulted during an aggravated burglary when a man entered her home and threatened her with a hammer at around 2.00am on Monday morning. 

Gardaí say that a struggle ensued and fortunately the woman managed to escape to the street and call for help.

Gardaí responded immediately to the incident and arrested a man, aged in his 30s, at the scene.

House and car keys as well as a sum of money were recovered by Gardaí.

The man is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in West Dublin.

Gardaí say that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
