Rare warning cancellation issued for 10 counties by Met Éireann in weather switch up

In an unusual turn of events, Met Éireann has cancelled the status yellow rain warning in place for ten counties since 2pm yesterday, Friday, March 21.

A weather u-turn sees the warning lifted for Carlow, Clare, Cork, Galway, Kerry, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Waterford and Wexford. The warning of heavy rain, spot flooding and thundery downpours was due to remain in place until 2pm today, March 22.

The good news keeps on coming despite the showery weekend, the week ahead will see a return to more settled conditions.

The weather forecaster has said there will be "plenty of dry weather in store, with just light rain or drizzle at times”.

However, despite a main dry forecast in the week ahead, temperatures are not expected to reach any higher than 14 degrees during the day and will drop to freezing at night amidst clear skies.

Any rain showers from Sunday until Wednesday are expected to be light and drizzly and they are not expected to last long. The days ahead will also be breezy with Tuesday expected to be the best day with sunny spells and temperatures as high as 14 degrees.

Wednesday will see more persistent rain across the country, particularly in the northeast.
