Girl dies after getting into difficulty in the water in Co Tipperary

A girl has died after getting into difficulty in the water in Co Tipperary.

The incident happened at the River Suir in Newcastle on Friday afternoon.

A Garda spokesperson said gardai and emergency services attended after a female child got into difficulty in the water at approximately 4.20pm on Friday.

“She was airlifted by Rescue 117 to Cork University Hospital in a serious condition. She has since passed away,” they said,

“A file will be prepared for the Coroner’s Court.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
