Touching tributes have been paid following the sad a sudden death of renowned Irish architect and beloved Home of the Year presenter Hugh Wallace, who has been described by many as caring, funny, talented, and an overall wonderful man.
Hugh, 68, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, leaving behind his grief-stricken husband Martin Corbett who expressed his shock and sadness over Hugh's death in a heartbreaking post on social media in which he said,

"It is with deep sadness and shock that I share the news that my beloved husband and soulmate, Hugh Wallace, has passed away suddenly at home last night. I am heartbroken."
Hugh, adored by fans across Ireland, also presented RTÉ's Great House Revival series and was popular with viewers given his expertise, vivacious personality and flamboyant style.
Off screen, Wallace was one of the founders of Dublin architect firm Douglas Wallace which he developed into one of the country's leading design consultancies.
The statement on RIP.ie reads,
Hugh Wallace, December 1, 2025, unexpectedly, at home; son of the late Susan and Ken. Wonderful, adored husband and soul-mate of Martin.
Loved and remembered always by his family, cherished and valued friends, colleagues and all who knew him.

Hundreds of people have left heartfelt condolences on RIP.ie from those who knew Hugh, and those who didn't, who have expressed their sadness on his sudden passing.
One mourner wrote,
"I am deeply saddened to hear about Hugh's untimely passing. My sincere condolences to his cherished husband Martin, and all of his family and friends. Hugh was an incredibly talented man, and I had so much admiration for him. He was a pleasure to watch on TV as his beautiful personality always made me feel better. We have lost a very special person. May Hugh rest in peace."
Another wrote,
"Condolences to Martin and Wallace family. Hugh was a gem that brought fun and knowledge to our tv screens. A beautiful caring man that was a joy to watch on all his programmes. We will miss you so much. Rest in peace Hugh you have earned a place in heaven."

While one of Hugh's neighbours wrote,
"Dear Martin, we are all so sorry for the loss of Hugh. He was such lovely warm presence in the neighbourhood, so often with you by his side. The ‘hood feels a little darker since this awful news broke on Monday. May he rest in gentle peace."
Funeral arrangements for Hugh have also been announced for Friday (December 5) at 11am in St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin.
